Crunchy Pork Belly
A very know dish in the Philippines, called as Lechon Kawali. It is made from pork belly that has been deep fried to make the skin crunchy. However my version is to use the oven, the healthier way to eat. Well healthier than deep frying, isn't it? I realized that when I use oven, I could maintain the crunchiness longer than deep frying plus, fats oozes out from it, so you can just throw all the oil into the garbage can.
Gyudon
This is my version of gyudon. I can not find dashi in the local grocery store, thus I used vegetable broth instead. The outcome is great. My kids love it. My eldest son is asking for more. My youngest son even took a picture of it. Too bad hubby is not in town to taste it.
In Japan, they often used raw eggs, however I prefer to use scrambled egg to prevent salmonella infection.
